Spain, part four; Bilbao
We end the Spanish leg of the tour in lovely Bilbao. If you haven’t been here in the last five years, you will not recognize it.
Everything has changed; there are more cafes and the buildings all sparkle.
This is Laureano, still dancing from the happy news about BONE’s sales figures from yesterday.
And of course, the jewel of the city remains the Gehry designed Guggenheim Museum.

Bilbao is also home to one of the founders of Astiberri Ediciones, Fernando Tarancon, seen here having lunch with us before a signing at his comic shop Joker Comics.

The que fills the store and is made up of families and lots of children. Comics have changed a lot since I first started…

This little cutie pie stood and watched me draw for almost two hours. There’s no question that Spain is a huge success. Not only is the Spanish edition doing well, but I met a lot of great people and was able to visit some beautiful places. Special thanks to Javier from Astiberri and Rafel Porta from SD Distribuciones. And the tour is only half over. Tomorrow, I will be in Paris, where hopefully, Vijaya will be waiting to meet me…

So cool to read and look on your world tour Jeff ! Just lik I traveld free ! Thanks for the blog ! You are a talent man and you deserve it !
Best,
Paul

It’s nice you are enjoying this trip. I was not able to go to your presentation in Madrid, wish I was still a student. I once read the first interview you gave to “The Cimics Journal”. I have to say I’m glad you finally achieved the goal for which you left your steady job !! That’s something very inspiring.
Keep the good luck !!

Hey, I just discovered your blog. I am from Bilbao and I was there. Unfortunately you can only see half of my ear and part of my sweater in the fisrt signing picture. Oh, well…
If you have any time, check out my blog. I put up some comic strips I do for a local diary. Hope you understand something or at least enjoy the drawings.
Bye (I’ll keep visiting)

[...] Afterward, I sat down for a little interview with Alvaro Pons, who I met on my earlier swing through Spain. Alvaro runs the most read comics blog website in Spain, La Carcel de Papel. [...]
