  2. Wow, that’s SO awesome. I’d heard August, so the end of June… man, that’s even better. That’s less than 2 months away!

I’d also only seen smaller pics of the cover, so definitely loving it more seeing it larger. But, more importantly (!?), we’re all dying to know… what colour will the book’s title be on the spine?

  15. I’ve actually read the entire series and it looks good in black and white just as good as color. It is a style that no one can copy. You are totally freakin awesome Jeff.

    Comment by Marcus Martinez — May 15, 2007 @ 3:45 pm

  16. Oh wow this is fantastic looking color art for the cover. I have to say though and am a bit embarressed by saying this but I haven’t been into the colored books because I find the computer coloring a bit disaponting. I know I know you guys just all love it’s look. I just love the look of the hand color artwork of Charles Vess and the original color prints from Disney Adventure. BUT this cover is almost convincing enough for me to go take a peek at this new vol and addition to the colored books collection. Jeff you have always done a great job and have a nack for choosing the most talented people to work with on projects. So congratulations on the colored vol #6 :)

  17. Sweet! We’ve just discovered the wonderful world of Bone, and believe me, I’m just (okay, maybe even a little more) as obsessed as my kids aged 8, 6, and 3. Such awesome characters, such a great storyline, catapulting us forward with each volume. Thank you, Jeff! We’re having so much fun reading Bone together!

  21. I just finished the B&W single volume version (which I LOVED). I think I’ll probably wait for another full volume, although I’d love to experience the story in color. Some people might cry out about that but I have very fond memories of collecting Katsuhiro Otomo’s ‘Akira’ during its original North American run under Epic comics. I always thought Steve Olaff did a bang up job with the coloring. I’ll always love the brilliant simplicity of the original B&W art, though.

  22. I love BONE ive read the whole collection in black&white but i cant wait to read all of BONE 6-9 in color (keep the good work up Jeff ;] )

  23. Howdy, Jeff:

Just wanted to say, as a long-time Bone reader, how much fun i’m having introducing my daughter to the series through the Scholastic books (she prefers her comics in color). She’s completely and excitedly devoured the first five books, and now we’re anxiously awaiting the sixth, though I might have to crack open my one-volume edition for her just to ease her tension over what happens next. She wanted me to tell you she loves you for writing Bone. And thanks to Steve’s wonderful colors, also, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have been able to interest her in the series to begin with (at least, not yet).

  29. total awesomeness wrapped into a delicate hardcover book. your series is what caused me to startt drawing
when i first started reading your series, i thought the characters looked funny, and that it was kinda weird, but now i’ve realized that you and steve do that kind of plotline because it causes chills, suspense, and people wanting more. i tried to figure outwhat happened before the bone cousins got lost, so insteadof finding out, i made a 31page comic about what happened in my view. still you can’tcompare to your masterpeice. anyways, i’m a huge fan and this made my day. thanks jeff and steve for creating Bone.

Even as I’m growing older, the Bone series rekindles me with a certain childhood wonder. It’s a MASTERPIECE, through and through.

  45. Your stuff is brilliant. Seriously, as a girl, this is what got me back into comics other than Archie and Calvin & Hobbes. Now I’ve got through all of the current BONE books as well as Maus, Persepolis, and Babymouse (it may be childish, but it’s like candy to me). Seriously… BONE has everything a good series should; humour, adventure, unique and memorable characters, gorgeous artwork and a dark yet fascinating plotline. And it appeals to just about everyone. Even, somehow, my parents (!!)
    Love,

  49. I believe the official release date for the new Bone book (#6, Old Man’s Cave) is August, but the book market starts putting the books out earlier, so they will be on the shelves when the official date arrives.

I was told by Scholastic that Bone vol. 6 will ship to stores June 29, but not all stores will put it out on shelves right away… but most will, so look for it in July!
