Hey, New York Times…!

I received some astonishing sales figures from Scholastic – - the paperback edition of BONE 6: Old Man’s Cave, which just shipped last month, is in its third printing for a total of 260,000 copies! The combined hard cover & paperback sales for the series to date:  nearly 2,000,000.

Maybe it's not Harry Potter, but still!

  2. That’s awesome! With each book it is definitely become more known and popular, I hope sales just keep increasing and more people find out about the wonderful world of Bone! Christmas is coming – if you’re a Bone fan, I suggest giving Bone for Christmas! I also suggest lending out the books to your friends to see if you can get them hooked.

  4. THAT is fantastic! I never realized how popular these would become, year three and these are just so popular its funny. Ghost Circles should be coming by Christmas or no? Such fantastic work as these came out. I bet when book 9 comes out I’m probably gonna be looking back thinking “Dang, man. What started as a humorous book I read in 7th grade has become the greatest comic phenomenon I’ve ever read.” Heck Im a sophomore now and I think it, lol. Keep that good work goin.

  5. I have heard a lot about this comic this past year and I finally sat down and read it at my local Barnes and Noble store and wow, it sucked me in. I am an avid manga lover, but this was just as good. In fact, it has inspired me to mold the creation of my manga into a better format. Please check it out, and I am currently trying to redraw the story, and like you, I have been working with a bunch of characters since I am young, and I hope to one day put them out there like you did with the Bone cousins. Thanks a lot for your awesome story sir.

    Sincerely,
    David Yoon

  8. Hey Jeff,

That’s excellent news. Im a huge fan. Unfortunately, here in India Scholastic doesn’t have rights to sell. Do you see Scholastic selling Bone in India? There’s a major fan base here for the series and it’s a ripe and untouched market for schools and young people here. Who knows, you might shatter the harry potter records!

  12. [...] [...]

  15. It is a stunning achievement and an inspiration to us creatives who continue to plug away at their own graphic novel projects. You prove that there is success to be had in delivering heart felt stories to the all youthful spirits young and old.

  16. Man Jeff that’s great I can’t believe how far Bone has come. And with that great sales news. Absolutely unbelievable! You have shattered the Harry Potter records in my book!

  17. Please, can anyone tell me how I can buy a copy of the last trade paperback?

I bought all the others. The FAQ here is not working and I see no direct email address to ask Jeff about this. I don’t want to buy the mini omnibus; I just want to fill the last little space on my bookshelf next to all the earlier volumes and Rose and Stupid Rat Creatures. But I cannot find the last trade anywhere.

    Anyone?

  18. Wow.

Congratulations. It’s great that the Scholastic version is indeed working to show Bone to thousands and thousands of new readers.

  19. You can order the newest colour collection Bone 6: Old Man’s Cave in colour online from chapters.ca, amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, etc. You can also buy it at any of those large book retailers. If you meant the final Bone volume, Crown of Horns, from the previous black and white collections, you can’t get it from the book retailers anymore, but I have seen it still at local comic shops.

  20. Its possible to get it at amazon, but its pricy I think, or maybe Barnes and Noble

  25. Those of us who grew up watching you draw are so proud of you. From the pictures on the fridge to trading Pogo books, to making Charlie Brown snowmen, we all knew you had it in you. Congratulations. We keep spreading the word, and obviously others are doing the same!! My son thinks the world of you, and so do I.
    Love you, man!

  26. Great news about the sales!

Sadly, I was at SDCC 2007 helping out a friend who was a dealer there. After the show, I found over 200 copies of volume 1,2,3,5 in the trash on the loading dock. Most of them still in the scholastic shipping boxes.
Needless to say, I rescued them.

Guess what I’m going to be giving as Christmas presents this year! : )
