Can’t wait! The oversized preview book was such a treat. Wasn’t part of the original idea possibly to make the book oversized as well? I guess that went by the wayside? Still can’t wait, and I’m stoked about the Variant Cover! As a collector, however, I find variant covers generally to be too costly for the wallet! They’re great every once in a while for a special issue, especially a #1, but when some books are having a variant cover for every issue, it gets to be too much. OK, way off topic now… can’t wait for what’s coming up in 2008!

Wow, weird seeing your work and no Fone in it. Hahaha, how many times you hear that? Looking great but is the whole book going to be in horizontal panels? Also, is the book going go to be in black and white or color? You might not hear this that often but I’m hoping black and white. Everyone is using color and you lose the detial of the inker when you do it in color and you produce some gorgeous brush work! Can’t wait to pick it up, and glad to hear it’s longer then the standerd 24 pages and hoping you release it in 11 by 17 one day. I publish a small comic and I love looking at orignals and at that size you can see more. Well keep up the great work and I’ll keep reading it.

We did plan on publishing in oversized format, but we some resistance from retailers because of the shelf space it would require. So we are back to traditional comic book size. If there is a demand for it, we will to publish a limited edition oversized book. It really looks cool big! RASL will be published in b&w but we do plan to publish a compilation edition in color – but that will be a few years down the road.

Thanks for the info & update Vijaya! I am really excited that RASL is in black and white. Of course I will love to see it in colour later down the road too, but Jeff’s art is so powerful in B&W. I am not too disappointed about the regular size. After all, they don’t make bags and backing boards that large! My wallet will also thank me. But it sure does look cool big. Maybe a collection or something could be oversized later on. Lastly I’m excited that it is 32 pages. Something with a bit more meat than the standard 24!

Thank you for the link and and info it is very mmuch appreciated. It woudl be cool to see this in an over sized edition but I udnerstand the self space issue. Oh well I’m used to waiting for the cool stuff to coem out so I guess we’ll all have to wait and see if the larger vertion is a go in a few years. Till then i’ll settl e for standard comic size, it’ll be easier to hold anyway lol. Thanks again for posting the info.

Glad that it would be on traditional comic book sized and not over-sized. It might be difficult to carry in the stores otherwise which translates to not many would carry the book or at least not as many copies.

Jeff Smith, best known for the all-ages fantasy BONE, returns with the teen and up tale RASL, the tale of a dimension-hopping art thief who steals alternate world treasures for the super-rich. And Terry Moore, Texas creator of slice-of-life series STRANGERS IN PARADISE, launches his first new comic in years with ECHO, about a silver rain that falls and gives a young woman strange abilities and an even stranger life. [...] RASL Preview I like Jeff Smith, but I like him in heavy doses. It’s like a bowl of ice cream. You take time to digest after you consume and just reflect back on how tasty it is. Monthly, it’s like a bag of chips. They’re good but with everything else you’re consuming it kind of just becomes filler.
