A copy of the new color Bone 7 Ghost Circles came in the mail today. I put it on my drawing table with the other projects I worked on this year – - and I was surprised…  I worked on a crazy lot of stuff in 2007!

Good news about two of my favorite cartoonists: Amulet, the newest book from FLIGHT editor Kazu Kibuishi is showing up in stores now. 

And James Kochalka has redesigned his American Elf Supersite (Thanks to Tom Spurgeon over on The Comics Reporter ). 

The new Diamond Comics Previews catalog came in the mail today. This is the ad we ran in the Dec. issue for comic books shipping in February.  Inside the ad is a first glimpse of the variant cover for RASL #1, seen enlarged below. 

I haven’t made very many variant covers in my career (unless repackaging BONE  a hundred million times with new covers counts), but when I do, I try to have fun.  And this was fun. Noirish angles, with shadows cutting jaggedly through the panel- – intersecting the face. The regular #1 will still be the cover we previewed in San Diego last summer, and the rest of the series will follow this paired down rock poster look.

Someone at Diamond came up with this tag line that I like:

Discover what price a man must pay to be the world's greatest art thief!
