Jeff, my name's A.David and my brother and I are huge fans of your work. You're part of my inspiration to make my own self-published comic book. A couple questions: After all the color editions of Bone are released, will there be a complete collection in color? Also, when will the first issue of Rasl be released?

Jeff, my name is Charles and I am in a Funk/Rock band from Orange Park, FL. We have always had issues with picking a name and recently have come to an agreement on one. I was wondering if, with your permission of course, we could use the name Roque Ja. The name would be spelled Roque Ja and pronounced Rock Jaw (credited to the Bone cousin's mispronunciation). Depending on the money/fame we make in the future, a special thanks and copyrights to the name and character of Roque Ja would of course go to you. You would always be credited in these rights. I just wanted to ask you personally. If the answer is no I will understand but I wanted to show the world how much of an impact your graphic novel has had on me and my band mates.

Thank you - Charles.

Yeah, Art of Bone is really good, you've got to get it and read it for sure, you'll love it! Dark Horse did an awesome job making it. It definitely has some useful stuff. I've started writing the article a bit, but mostly I'm still gathering all the information I need in spreadsheets. I graduated University a couple years ago now. I actually only discovered Bone within the past couple years, it was about the time that Eyes Of The Storm was released in color. I just think Bone is so brilliant, from so many perspectives. In terms of art, in terms of story, in terms of dialogue and character, etc, etc. When I get into something I really like, I REALLY get into it, and I LOVE Bone! I've almost finished collecting all the original comics. I've read the One Volume and the new color editions so many times now, it almost does feel like I grew up with them!

Really?
Thats pretty cool.

So for your article, I think Art of Bone will definitely help. I've yet to read it but it should be good.

Are you like in college or something?
lol
Seems like you pretty much grew up with the comics.

The One Volume chapters / order is not exactly the same as the order of the original issues :) Bone was 55 issues. If you make a study of this you will find many fascinating things :) I am actually doing this, working on a huge article studying the history and evolution of the Bone story, from original comics, to collections and then the One Volume, to finally the color editions. It's a slow process but really cool. I hope that Jeff will be interested to be involved at some point when I have done a reasonable amount of work on it. Your second question... the prologues / shorter chapters are a mixed bag. Some were included in the original comics as part of a regular issue, others were added when the collections were made. They weren't ever released in comic book issue form just unto themselves.

I just realized something.
As I was reading through the One Volume, there was something that caught my attention.
I think Bone has 54 issues, not 55.
Thats minimal difference but while reading book 8, the chapter called Pals only had 8 pages, so I'm not sure if its an actual chapter, or if it was released with the other shorter chapters, like Mim from book 9. Actually there was another thing I was curious about. When the Prolgoues were being done, were those released with the first issue of the book or just kind of sold seperately?

I just received my hardcover of Bone 7 as well as the paperback I ordered for my brother. The glossy cover on the hardcover - both the book itself and the jacket - gives slightly darker but also slightly richer colours, enough to be noticeable, but the cover is gorgeous either way. The tone of the paperback cover is more aqua. I'm still loving the solid colour backs of the hardcover books. Also, if I'm not mistaken, this is the first of the hardcover books to be bound with sewn binding. This allows the pages to spread open further on the hardcover, which is especially cool for the three epic spreads in this volume. The bleakest of the Bone books, Steve still does a lot of really cool things with the colours and again, as always, brings the story to new life. I would imagine it was a bit of an easier volume to colour, but at 150 pages it's wonderfully thick again after the slightly shorter books 5 and 6. It's a bit of a breather and prelude to the upcoming excitement of Atheia and all the fantastic colouring that awaits in the final two volumes! Amazing job Jeff and Steve! It was worth the wait :)
