Jeff on PBS NEWS HOUR with Jim Lehrer tonight

Not too long ago, a team from PBS NEWSHOUR came out to Columbus to visit with me and check out the exhibit at The Wexner Center. The segment is going to air tonight, July 21, 2008 on The NEWSHOUR with Jim Lehrer.

There will also be a live on-line forum next week on Wednesday, July 30 @ 11:30 EST. Check local listings for times.

You can listen to an audio podcast of the segment here and you can watch a video stream here.

  4. D’oh! On the night I go to see The Dark Knight. Any idea on re-runs or if they’ll show it online or anything like that? I hope so!

  6. Jeff, always enjoyed Thorn while @ OSU — it was the best part of the paper. Have been following your career since then, and have been cheered by your deserved success. Happened to be home in time to catch the PBS show, and called the whole family into the room to watch it with me. All the best to you for the future !

  7. Okay okay okay, I have to ask now because the podcast mentioned it again in reference to RASL…..

Is Rasl inter-dimensionally traveling or is he time traveling as well?

The reviews and pieces I’ve seen on the new series continually refer to it as time-traveling though I’ve seen no references or plot points to indicate that there has been any change in time other than simple chronological progression. I realize this could lead a debate about four dimensional “space-time” but hopefully it’s a straightforward question. Any thoughts? Answers?

  8. Jeff is Warner Bro. going to give us a preview of the movie? And tell us when it is going to be released in theaters?

    Comment by jeremy brubacher — July 22, 2008 @ 3:28 pm

  9. Jonathan, RASL travels between dimensions. As you suggest, it isn’t a time travel story. There IS a slight and unpredictable time drift whenever Rasl moves between parallel worlds (this is consistent with current scientific thought on space/time), so for that reason, I guess, time travel has made it into most reviewers synopsis.

Jeremy, we are still in the advanced stages of negotiation with Warner Bros. We have one or two items we need to work out before we actually sign a contract with them and start work on a BONE movie.

  10. Hey Jeff, congrats! It was really funny, I got home last night and my mom was really excited and told me all about what she knew about your exhibit. I just kept nodding and said “I know”! And then, my grandmother sent me an email about it today! To bad I was out when it aired!

  13. Jeff –

Another question occurs. I know that we’re early into the new series yet, but I’ve been operating under the assumption that Rasl is rooted in this world. Meaning is he from essentially our time and place (world 616 for you Marvel fans), or is he originally from another dimension that is an alternate of THIS world that you, I, and this blog inhabit? Or am I getting ahead of myself with? Thanks!

Also, good looking out Matt, thanks alot for that link!

  14. Hahahahaha…
    somewhere in an alternate dimension…
A man named Rasl… blogs. And steals well known pieces of art from a series known as… Bone.

  15. Btw thanks for clearing up that whole dimensional-traveling/drift thing from the space-time travel, Jon. a few people were saying different things.

  16. I missed it :( I don’t suppose it’ll be rebrodcast.

  17. Jeanette, you can watch it right here on the blog…click on the video stream.

I know, it’s not the same as seeing it on real TV, but it’s close!

  18. Jeff,

I know you haven’t signed the contract yet but I heard you saw an animation test for the movie and it was CGI. Could this still be that way when it’s finished? Second, could the Bone movie become our answer to France’s Asterix movies( based on French comic strip) and Japan’s Kitaro movies(Live-action movies based on manga and anime)? I heard both of those series of movies were pretty successful blockbusters for cartoon movies.

    Comment by Liam Scanlan — August 4, 2008 @ 9:16 am

  19. I think the comparison to the Asterix and Kitaro movies is probably right on. I know that Warner Bros. is thinking in terms of Bone being like a Harry Potter series. Either way sounds good to me!
