Also, I must say, your story of going to speak at ALA in 2002 was great. I am very glad that your work along with Spiegelman, Gaiman, and a number of others has really pushed the comic medium into bookstores and libraries and just out of the comic shops. Ok more commenting for me, but great stuff. Thanks.

Jeff,

I really enjoyed reading the transcript of this interview. The discussion of frames and how it takes at least 2 frames in a comic to essentially create a sentence I found very interesting. As a librarian who is a big advocate of comics in collections I think that this is their most important aspect. Many people will see comics in the collection and think they don’t belong there because they don’t understand that it involves just as much thought and imagination to read a Graphic Novel as it does a regular novel because the reader needs to fill in those spots between the frames in order to create the story. So, thanks for a great interview, and for making such dynamic comics.

I have tried contacting you through the site contact page to no avail so I thought I would use the comments on a blog post you have been reading and see if I can get a hold of you.

I am a librarian in Michigan and I am part of a Committee for the Michigan Library Association that is putting together a conference for youth librarians next spring (April 15-17) and I wanted to see if you might be interested in speaking. I have been a long time fan of your work and I am really trying to make sure we have at least one Graphic Novel presence at the conference. If you could contact me, jbernstein@kdl.org I can send you more info about the conference. You can also read more about last years conference and speakers at http://www.mla.lib.mi.us/events/spring/speakers. Thanks Jeff.

Thanks for the link, Tom, very interesting stuff.

I've always found it odd that Jeff is surprised that Bone has found success amongst kids because when I first came across Bone years ago I wrote it off as "for kids." It took a buddy of mine saying, "yeah I guess, but it's really good, you should read it." Then come to find out that kids weren't reading it (at that time) and adults loved it. Go figure.
