Sixteen miles

Filed under: Comics! — Jeff @ 9:45 pm

Last Spring I was asked by a publisher to write a small blurb for the back cover of Barnaby Ward’s graphic Novel Sixteen Miles to Merricks which came out in August. It’s a great book, filled with mystery and really well drawn sexy women. What more could you want? To read a good review of Sixteen Miles… visit Comics Bulletin.

A couple of days ago I received the amazing drawing above along with this letter:

Dear Jeff
I’m sorry I never got around to thanking you sooner for the marvelous endorsement you gave my book Sixteen Miles to Merricks. I’m a huge fan and Bone has to be one of my all time favorite comics. As soon as my son is old enough, I plan on buying the full set of colorized volumes for him.

Thanks!
Barnaby

There are some unforeseen pleasures in this field…

  1. Wow, that’s so cool. Is it supposed to be Thorn and Fone Bone, or some random characters? By the way, Bone is the best comic in the world! You did such an incredible job on absolutely EVERYTHING! You are a genius, Jeff. Also, can you tell us how to draw the characters in Bone?

  3. Looks like Thorn and Fone Bone to me!
And yes, Scholastic is working with me on a new version of Stupid, Stupid Rat-Tails called Tall Tales from Boneville that will include the adventures of Big Johnson Bone along with some new tall Tales. That will come out in 2010!

  4. It does say “Thorn & Fone Bone” on the bottom. It’s a beautiful piece, and it would make a wonderful limited edition print ::hint hint::. I am so lucky to have found Bone as early on as I did, and I watched the story grow as I did. It is one of the most influential pieces of literature in my life.

  10. Jeff,
Hey that is so cool. Fone Bone looks funny with a scarf. Hey, that’s pretty funny, that dude’s name is Barnaby, like the baby rat creature in Bone. Barnaby is my favourite character. Jeff, you’re brilliant, you know.

  14. Hey, I am having issues loading your website. somewhere around half of this page seems to load, and the rest is just blank. I am not really certain why…. but you might want to investigate it. I’ll check back again later, this might be on my side.
