RASL and The Cartoonist on year end lists.

RASL and the documentary The Cartoonist appeared on a few year end lists around the internet. Here is a fun link I liked… RASL: The Drift made the Top 5 Continuing Books of the Year over at Stumptown Trade Review. I did a podcast interview with these guys earlier in the year when I was at the Stumptown Comics Fest, and enjoyed it very much. Thanks, Brian & Thor! Good time to mention that the new issue, RASL #6 will be in stores on Jan. 20! There is a preview of RASL #6 here.
Also, The Cartoonist documentary made the Booklist Editor’s Choice Best of 2009. Three and a half out of four stars. Not bad, Ken! (Ken Mills is the director) Congratulations!

You’re working so many projects at once, very impressive.
I was thinking about having you be the illustrator for a graphic novel that I’m currently writing, but your blog posts have forced me into judging that you are busy, I guess it can wait.
Good luck with keeping you hand in good shape, you wouldn’t want it to break from all of this drawing.

So glad to hear about the delivery date for #6. Can’t wait. And about the “year end’s” lists, always excited when your work gets exposure.

You’re right about my schedule. I can barely keep up with my own books. Just ask Marcus! But thanks for thinking of me. And yes, I do take care of my wrist because of carpel tunnel. I have had to wear a brace while drawing & inking for five years now. It’s worth it, though. There were a couple of months back in 2004 when I didn’t know if I would draw again.

Really looking forward to Rasl 6. So far its been an excellent series that has really lived up to the high standard set by both Bone and Shazam!
I was watching The Cartoonist for the second time last week and it really is one of the most interesting documentaries I’ve seen! Hope You have a great 2010 Jeff and I’m excited for more RASL and the BONE: Tall Tales book!

I just picked up RASL: The Drift and I loved it to bits. Amazing work, Jeff! I instantly got the feeling that it was a pretty stupid move to go for the TPB instead of the separate issues though, because I couldn’t put the book down and now I crave more. Do you have any idea when the volume collecting issues #4-6 is coming out?

Thanks, Carl. The next big RASL collection, RASL 2: The Fire of St. George, will include issues # 4-7. That means I’m working on the finale for the story arc as we type.
Comic book RASL issue #6 ships next Wed. the 20th, and RASL #7 will ship in mid-March.
RASL 2: The Fire of St. George will ship in mid-April. I’ll post the exact date when we get a little closer and I know for sure.

I was able to see The Cartoonist for the first time last night. It was an excellent documentary! It was nice to hear all of the encouragement as well as the warnings of the near limitless dedication it takes to be a self-publisher. My only regret was the multiple 3-D zooms and the moving backdrops. I was feeling a bit sea-sick by the end.

Hi Jeff,
Can you recommend any books on Tesla? I found the latest issue fascinating with all the tidbits you wove in about Tesla’s life and wanted to know more.
Thanks!
