RASL 14 off to the printers and I’m off to TCAF

Sent RASL #14 to the printer this morning! It’s the second to last issue, and even I’m getting excited! RASL #14 should hit stores on May 30. Aand now I have to start packing for this weekend’s trip to Toronto for the Toronto Comic Arts Fest. It’s a great literary/arts comics show and I am looking forward to returning there for the first time in years. Last time I was at TCAF, it was held in tents out in a parking lot. Lots of great guests and panels, so come if you can!

  2. #15? First we have to read #14. I can’t wait! :-)
But for questions to the future… Around what month will start volume two? :-)

  3. Jeff,
you should make a short BONE comic for free comic book day next year. That would be cool.

  4. Hey Jeff,

The inking demonstration at TCAF was fantastic. You were very polite and hospitable despite being tired from two days work. Meeting you was very inspiring.

    Cheers,
    Patrick

  5. Hey Jeff,

I’m interested to find out if there will be a “Complete RASL” HARD Cover edition released once this incredibly entertaining run is over???

That would be something I’d very much like in my collection. ;-)

  6. Jeff:

Thank you for your involvement in the new book “A Parent’s Guide to the Best Kids Comics: Choosing Titles Your Children Will Love”.

My wife and I appreciated your foreword, not because my daughter is a “reluctant reader” but because she was recently diagnosed with a learning disability. It seems she lacks a visual memory — her comprehension (listening and reading) suffers because she can’t “see in her mind” the narrative of a story or utilize mnemonic devices. Her doctor recommended to us that we try comics or graphic novels to help her overcome this and help her experience reading and the telling of a good story.

We’re not comics “aficionados”, and our daughter wasn’t excited about reading them because she felt it would make her look dumb. On the advice of the book (and without telling her it was bought for therapeutic purposes) we bought one of the graphic novels the book recommended for her age group, one that we thought would suit her best. Well, she devoured it in two sittings, not because it was an easy-to-read picture book but because it really spoke to her in a meaningful, emotional, literary way. My daughter has now read all of that author’s work and she has tagged lots of other books recommended in the Parent’s Guide. We now have a full summer of reading queued up for her!

We’re grateful to our daughter’s doctor for suggesting comics, and for your role in publishing this book. For parents of children who are reluctant and challenged readers it will be a useful resource. It certainly has been for us.

    Thanks again,

    David
