RASL 14 is out today!
Spoiler Alert!!! A review of RASL #14 on the Wizard is Oz! site can be read by clicking here! (It’s actually not very spoil-y at all.)
Building momentum to the FINAL issue and the BIG Finale! Let us know what ya think of #14!

WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME, JEFF?!? RASL 14′S ENDING MAKES IT IMPSOSSIBLE TO WAIT FOR THE 15TH ISSUE!
Comment by Cameron Olsen — May 30, 2012 @ 6:04 pm
Because it’s so much fun! Actually, I’m busting my butt right now to make #15′s deadline, so it makes it a lot easier to be stuck at my drawing board when I hear that you liked the new issue. Thanks, Cameron!

The new issue was phenomenal! I was actually shocked at times (in a good way). We have to wait til next year for the one-volume edition?! Well at least we’ll probably get the 4th trade collection and maybe the 2nd pocket-book this year. Opinion: An ‘over-sized’ one-volume edition would be awesome (with tons of thumbnails, pencils, sketches etc. There’s never enough sketches. 50 pages of extras would be great!). Will the letter section possibly return for the final issue?

Issue 14 was amazing. I am dying to know SO much! If 15 ties everything up, I am just contemplating how insane this ending must be! I haven’t been this excited for a comic ending in a long time! And I’m SO happy to know that I’ve been aboard this comic since day one!

I find the interview so interesting Jeff because I just recently wrote to Dave Sim and asked him, among other things, some thoughts on your recent works. This was mainly just because you two are my favorite cartoonists out there. It is good to hear that you guys have seemingly put your past conflicts behind you.
I wonder what you think about the Dave Sim/Cerebus kickstarter campaign for the Digital Cerebus and the attempt as the new digital format that they are working on with this?

Oh, and I forgot to mention that he did reply to me as well. =) Keep up the good work and I can’t wait to see more outstanding cartooning!

Amazombie,
I think Dave is exactly right choosing his most popular, and possibly best book(s) in the Cerebus canon to launch a Kickstarter project into the digital realm. Don’t know exactly what platform or format he’s going with, but the extras sound interesting. That’s the direction we are moving in here at Cartoon Books. I think it’s the future, and he’s wise to move that way.

Hey Jeff, thanks for the reply. I completely agree and I think that it will be very interesting to see this, well, almost “Criterion Collection” of digital comics format that the boys over at AV are going to come up with. I also am excited to see what you guys will do with a more advanced format of digital comics as well.
My only fear is that something like this will turn more into a cartoon, like those Watchmen digital comics became. It was a little overkill I though and took the comic a bit too far outside of its medium. At that point, it might as well have been a cartoon or CGI movie.
I hope the work on the Bone movie is going well and I hope to see something in the near future. Keep it up!

Jeff,
Have you read Watchmen? You never seem to talk about it like Maus or other comics. If you have read it, did you just not like it?
Comment by Cameron Olsen — June 10, 2012 @ 5:39 pm
Hey Jeff,
RASL # 14 was as good as it gets, man. The cover was stunning. What’s up after RASL? Inquiring minds want to know.
Comment by Steve Weiner — June 14, 2012 @ 1:53 pm
Cameron, I do talk about Watchmen, but you are right. Not as much as I do Maus, mostly because it had no direct influence on me. I recognize its amazing construction and importance, but not being a big superhero reader, or having any knowledge of superhero groups, its pleasures were lost on me.

Jeff,
You’re pretty specific, usually, when you say what kind of brush you use, but what specific brand do you use for your india ink, blue pencils, and 2 ply bristol board?
Comment by Cameron Olsen — June 20, 2012 @ 2:10 pm
Hey Jeff,
I used to read Bone. Still remember it too. Love the story and artwork. It’s thanks to you that I want to draw comics. Anyways, I saw a video of you inking a panel from Shazam and I noticed you had some kind of pen or brush. Can you please tell me what kind it is? Appreciate it!
