It seems like Comic-Con just sneaks up on us every year-where does the time go?! We’re making the annual trek to San Diego with a few tricks up our collective sleeve! What to share first? We’ve got a couple of exciting items making their debut this year: TUKI#1 in full color with special Convention Cover and the completed RASL omnibus in color hardcover. Our booth is getting a little makeover too—we are bringing a life-size RASL statue! In October 2013, The Columbus College of Art and Design hosted a RASL gallery exhibition in conjunction with Jeff giving the Keynote for the Art Schools MIX event. The school generously gifted us with this amazing statue, so we’re lugging him around for the fans to enjoy too!

Jeff will be doing a handful of panels during the Con and Cartoon Books will be hosting several signings in our booth daily. As we get closer to the show, I’ll be posting specific details for panels and signings then. More to come!

BONE in…Israel!

Blog entry by Kathleen

Hebrew1BLOG

Earlier this year, The Israeli Museum of Comics and Caricature worked with our Israeli publisher, Kinneret Zmora, to arrange a series of exhibitions that explore the ‘behind the scenes’ activity surrounding comics in Israel. Their first exhibit opened in March with BONE being prominently featured! The exhibits display the work and production processes involved: translation, adaptation to the Hebrew language and culture, anecdotes from the publishing houses, production and everything in between!

Take a look at Kinneret’s Facebook page to see the very cool display!

Society of Professional Journalists Regional Conference-Jeff invited to give Keynote!

Blog entry by Kathleen

spj.1

The Society of Professional Journalists recently held their regional conference at Ohio State on April 4th, and invited Jeff to give the Keynote address. The event took place at the Billy Ireland Museum, in the Jean and Charles Schulz Lecture Hall, where Jeff engaged the audience (Conference attendees, Educators and Journalism students) on the merits and similarities of cartooning and journalism. Introduced by his mentor, and respected former museum curator, Lucy Caswell, the conference ended with an enthusiastic start to the weekend! The Regional Chapter posted some additional photos on their Facebook page, which you can find here

spj.2 spj.3

As a ‘thank you’ for the evenings festivities, the Conference gifted Lucy and Jeff with bricks from the over 100 year old original Journalism Building! There are only a few of these left, which makes them all the more treasured.
