Jeff Smith Hosts World Premiere of TUKI at CBLDF Benefit Brunch on November 10 At Society of Illustrators in NYC

TUKI with logosThis Sunday, November 10th, Jeff will be unveiling his newest project: Tuki Save the Humans! at the Society of Illustrators during the benefit brunch for the Comic Book Legal Defense Funds ‘Right to Read’ program! Jeff recently joined the Fund’s Board of Directors and will host this lively afternoon event, where attendees will also enjoy brunch with the most outstanding authors in contemporary graphic novels and an auction of original art by today’s finest cartoonists. Doors will open at 11:00 a.m., Brunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., and the performance will begin at 12:30 p.m., to be followed by Q&A, auction, and viewing time in the Society’s galleries.

There are two levels of admission to this special event:

General Admission Tickets are available for a $100 donation to CBLDF and includes admission to the exhibits, brunch and a souvenir print signed by Jeff Smith.  $40 of this contribution is tax-deductible.

Dine With Jeff Smith VIP Admission tickets are available for a $250 donation to the CBLDF.  This includes dining with Jeff Smith, and also includes admission to the exhibits, brunch, and a souvenir print signed by Jeff Smith. $190 of this contribution is tax-deductible.

Saturday November 9th is the annual Comic Arts Brooklyn show, where Jeff will be appearing as a Featured Guest. C.A.B will be held at two locations: Mt. Carmel Church 275 N. 8th St in Brooklyn (book signings, publishers and artists will be in this location) and The Knitting Factory 361 Metropolitan Ave in Brooklyn (talks and lectures to be held in this location). All events are free and open to the public! The show runs from 11:00am-7:00pm

Billy Ireland Museum Opening November 15!

Jeff and Paul Pope will be participating in an event at Mershon Auditorium – ‘In Conversation: Paul Pope and Jeff Smith’ on Friday evening at 7:30pm. Tickets are now on sale at Wexner Center for the Arts

More from the Wexner Center: Join us for a conversation between internationally acclaimed cartoonists and Ohio State University alumni Jeff Smith (Bone, RASL) and Paul Pope (THB, Heavy Liquid, Batman Year 100) as they discuss their extraordinary careers and reflect on the importance of comics history. Jeff Smith’s collected, full-color RASL debuted this fall, and he is currently working on a new webcomic series Tuki: Save the Humans. Paul Pope’s latest sci-fi graphic novel Battling Boy also recently hit shelves. In 2008 Smith was the subject of a Wexner Center exhibition, Jeff Smith: Bone and Beyond, and a companion exhibition at the Cartoon Library, Jeff Smith: Before Bone. Moderated by the Wexner Center’s Director of Film/Video David Filipi.

This week, our Book Tour takes us to the Detroit Fanfare show! We haven’t been to Detroit in over a decade, so we are thrilled to come back and see our fans! The show is being held at the Adoba Hotel Dearborn and runs Saturday and Sunday with a Preview Night on Friday! Hope to see you!

RASL has been so well received since the beginning of our book tour-thank you to our fans, the press and everyone who has embraced this book and brought it the attention it deserves! This weekend, Jeff is heading back to Chicago for a couple of events at the Heartland Fall Forum as well as a store signing at the great Chicago Comics!

On Friday October 4th, Jeff will be attending the Heartland Fall Forum. The Forum is a gathering of publishers, booksellers, teachers, librarians, authors and more to celebrate all things book-related! All events will be taking place at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel and Conference Center in Rosemont. Jeff will be attending the Authors Feast portion of the forum from 7:30pm-9:30pm.
