More kudos on CXC from The Comics Journal!
It was recently brought to our attention, a most worthwhile effort of the amazing 12-year-old Meagan Warren, and her non-profit organization called Books for Bedtime. Meagan collects donated graphic novels and takes them to lower income schools for the children to select a book to take home. Meagan is currently looking to fulfill a request for 1200 books for some very special children, so if you can help donate in any way, please visit Books for Bedtime: http://www.booksforbedtimenonprofit.org/
#TBT: Pinup art for Batton Lash’s Wolff & Byrd, Counselors
of the Macabre Issue #16 circa 1997. Other guest artists include Stephen
Bissette, Bernie Wrightson, Phil Hester, Shawn McManus, Charles Vess and Rick
Veitch
Our fan Gwen, and her well-worn BONE book and Dad’s saved Christmas card
from 1994! One of the best compliments is hearing about families
enjoying bonding time while reading the BONE stories! Good stuff!
Happy Columbus Day!
This
week we had a very special visit with our new pal Holden and his family
courtesy of Make-A-Wish! Holden chose Jeff as his wish and we had the
best afternoon working on his comic, Ninja Hero, talking shop and eating
pizza! It was our pleasure to host him and his amazing family and
couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to meet such a neat little
boy. Holden’s comic will be printed at the end of Tuki#4, shipping in
December!
We’re still catching our collective breath from CXC, but man-oh-man was it a BLAST! What were some of your favorite parts of the 3 day festival? A definite highlight was the conversational panel with Art&Francoise on Saturday night!
Our pal Frank Santoro captured the glorious moments of Katie Skelly
receiving the CXC Emerging Artist Award this weekend. Presented by Jeff
and Vijaya and so wonderfully introduced by Tom Spurgeon. ENJOY!
