Mike Mignola is the author and illustrator of the immensely popular ‘Hellboy’ comics as well as two successful box-office movies of that series! Mike and Jeff Smith came up together in the heyday of the 90’s comics scene. Mike really came into his own with the jump to Dark Horse Comics in 1993. At the same time, Jeff established Cartoon Books as the self-publishing house for his works. Mike continues to tour the convention circuit and assures us more ‘Hellboy’ is on the way!

Tuki #1 & Special Cover Is Here!
The wait is over! We received our first copies of Tuki #1 yesterday and they are more amazing than we could have hoped for! We think you will agree. The raccoon’s outta the bag! Marvel announced this week that Jeff Smith’s variant cover for Rocket Raccoon #1 will be the San Diego Comic Con Exclusive at this years show!

Fan Art From Heroes Con!
Not only did we have an incredibly fun and successful visit to Heroes Con, but we were gifted this super fun sketch of Jeff. The artist is our friend Chris Schweizer! The other piece is from Rybo, who unfortunately didn’t get to meet Jeff in person but is getting introduced here!

Fan Art – Little Mouse Story Hat
We have the BEST fans! And because we do, they send us some of the BEST fan mail! We received an email from a fan who not only loves the BONE story, but LITTLE MOUSE too. For ‘show and tell’ at her school, Tressley made this unbelievably awesome hat which ‘tells’ the story of Little Mouse! She wore it while she read the story in front of her 1st grade class.

The van is packed and we’re ready to go! Wonder how many times Jeff will peel out in the minivan? Which, if you’ve never done it, is one of the funniest things ever! Seriously. Ok onto the important stuff: Cartoon Books will be setting up in the Artists Alley section, taking over booth numbers 1301-1304 and 1316.

What We Know about The Little Ones
The Little Ones were Australopithecines, the first of our ancestors to walk on two feet. Various species of these ancient creatures lived in Africa 4 million years ago until they disappeared 2 million years ago. The famous skeleton known as ‘Lucy’, was an Australopithecus Afarensis.

Getting Ready for Heroes Con!
Heroes Con is taking place June 20th through June 22 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. This show has become a perennial favorite of ours, and we are very excited to come back and see our fans! Cartoon Books will once again be exhibiting and Jeff will be making a few panel appearances as well as doing a few signings at our booth.
