Join Head Curator Jenny Robb and Associate Curator Caitlin McGurk as they take you on a tour of the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum (BICLM) at The Ohio State University. Hear from special guests including Gene Luen Yang, Laura Park, Art Spiegelman, Garry Trudeau, Mo Willems, Raina Telgemeier, Barbara Brandon-Croft, Hilary Price and Bill Watterson as they examine some of the many treasures housed at the BICLM! CXC 2020: Keynote – Jeff Smith in Conversation with Gene Yang, Friday October 2nd.
Gene Luen Yang is one of the most talented and successful cartoonists. His graphic novels AMERICAN BORN CHINESE and BOXERS & SAINTS were both National Book Award finalists. AMERICAN BORN CHINESE went on to win the Printz Award and an Eisner Award, while BOXERS & SAINTS the L.A. Times Book Prize. In 2016 Yang was named Ambassador for Young People’s Literature by the Library of Congress. That same year he was awarded the MacArthur genius grant. CXC is proud to have Gene as our 2020 Keynote guest in conversation with BONE creator and CXC Artistic Director Jeff Smith.
